NEET-PG 2025 Rescheduled to August 3

📢 NEET-PG 2025 Rescheduled to August 3: Supreme Court Grants Final Extension to NBE

The Supreme Court has approved the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences’ (NBE) request to postpone the NEET-PG 2025 examination to August 3, 2025, citing logistical challenges in conducting the exam in a single shift. The Court made it clear that no further extensions will be granted.

On June 6, 2025, the Supreme Court, led by Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih, allowed NBE’s plea to defer the NEET-PG 2025 to August 3, granting them additional time to prepare for the exam under revised conditions. This decision follows the Court’s earlier directive (on May 30) that the exam be held in a single shift—departing from NBE’s original two-shift plan for June 15.

The NBE cited several reasons for seeking the extension, including:
• Doubling of exam centres from 450 to over 900 to accommodate all 2.5 lakh+ candidates in a single shift.
• Technological and logistical constraints, including hardware provisioning, network infrastructure, power backup, and security measures.
• Reopening the application portal, allowing candidates to revise their test city preferences, followed by reallocation and communication of centres.
• Manpower requirements, including recruitment and training of invigilators, technical staff, and security personnel.
• Coordination with TCS, the exam’s technology partner, who confirmed that August 3 is the earliest feasible date for execution.

During the hearing, the bench expressed concern over the two-month delay, questioning the slow progress since the May 30 order. However, after reviewing the technical justifications and the urgency of ensuring exam integrity, the Court agreed with the NBE’s submission.

The Court emphasized this will be the final extension, and ordered the NBE to ensure all preparations—including mock drills and system audits—are completed in time.
